UNDERSTANDING ESSENTIAL OILS — Pure Plant Power, Naturally Extracted
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts, used for their therapeutic benefits in aromatherapy and natural wellness. Despite being called “oils,” they are not greasy. Their consistency can range from watery lightness to syrup-like thickness—and most will completely evaporate if left exposed to air.
What sets essential oils apart is their potency and complexity. Unlike synthetic compounds or isolated plant constituents, essential oils make use of the whole plant’s chemistry, preserving the synergy of its natural compounds. For instance, peppermint is a well-known carminative, aiding digestion, while also acting as an antiseptic, especially useful for clearing respiratory congestion and excessive catarrh. Thanks to their molecular structure, essential oils are easily absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes, allowing them to work quickly and effectively in the body.
Extraction Methods. There are several techniques used to extract essential oils, but the most widely used—and most effective for preserving aroma and therapeutic value—is steam distillation.
KYO NATURALS APPROACH
At Kyo Naturals, we grow our herbs and flowers at the base of the Dhauladhar mountain range, in the Kangra Valley of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Our crops are cultivated in a dust-free, high-altitude environment, without chemical inputs—making them an excellent source of clean, potent essential oils. From rose and chamomile to wild Himalayan herbs, our botanical’s are harvested and handled with care to ensure that the essential oils they yield are as pure and powerful as nature intended.
The International Federation of Aromatherapists does not recommend that Essential Oils be taken internally unless under the supervision of a Medical Doctor who is also qualified in clinical Aromatherapy.
